Paying more tax

Random thoughts on taxation

Periodically we hear from the media that most of the population would support higher taxes.  Generally this includes the caveat that this must mean better public services, hospitals etc.  Let’s leave aside for the moment the question of who “most” refers too i.e. does it mean most taxpayers, most people who would actually be paying more etc.
Instead let us consider these strange people who would actually give more money to the government to piss up the wall on such posts as “Diversity Advisor” and “Equality Officer” (see the Daily Ablution for further details of these worthwhile positions).

If they are so keen to un-burden themselves of their cash, then why not just write a cheque out to The Customs and Excise?
